The Baltic Dry Index is a composite indicator of dry bulk shipping costs on major global routes and serves as the primary barometer of world trade and the Handymax, Panamax and Capesize vessel market, published by the Baltic Exchange. In August 2026 the maximum reached 3186.00 index points, the minimum was 2776.00 index points and the average stood at 2951.05 index points. The index reflects freight rates only.
